Darcy Trombley P.Eng, CBCP, RSE, LEED GA
Born and raised in Calgary Alberta, Darcy developed a love of outdoor adventure through spending time in Canada’s Rocky Mountains. Throughout his life, he has enjoyed skiing, biking, hiking, camping and exploring in off-the-beaten-track locations. In 2023, Darcy and his wife Robin purchased a 2007 Dodge Sprinter and converted it into a 4-season camping van, which they now enjoy using to pursue their outdoor activities.
Through 15 years’ experience as a Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineer, along with over 15 years’ experience as a Refrigeration (HVAC-R) Mechanic, System Controls Technician and Commissioning Engineer, Darcy developed an in-depth knowledge of heating, cooling and ventilation systems. Knowing that he wanted to use his van throughout the year, including in very cold northern climates, Darcy searched for better alternatives to roof venting for bringing in fresh air and reducing CO2 and humidity levels in a well-insulated vehicle. Since he could not find anything available to purchase, he decided to develop his own system.
Darcy and Robin love spending time in their van even when the outside temperature falls below -20° Celsius (-4° Fahrenheit) or rises above 35° Celsius (95° Fahrenheit). Darcy created Rocky Mountain Thermal Systems so that others can enjoy the same comfortable, healthy air quality throughout their travels.
